Optimal Care for a 5 Star Spray Tan
Before your appointment
Shower and exfoliate thoroughly with a water-based exfoliant. Avoid oily exfoliants that leave a residue on the skin. Do not moisturize. Do not wear deodorant.
Before your first rinse
Depending on the solution, you will need to wait 2-8 hours before you can rinse off. It is imperative you wear loose-fitting, dark clothing and avoid getting wet, excessive movement, and putting anything on the skin. These can all interrupt your tan. Rinse with WATER ONLY.
During your tan
Moisturize daily and avoid the following:
- products containing alcohol or oils
- exfoliating (loofahs, washcloths, exfoliants)
- shaving or waxing
After your tan
Use a hand mitt and an exfoliating cream to thoroughly scrub the tan residue from your skin.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a spray tan last?
The tan typically lasts 7 to 10 days (or up to 14 days when using our tan-extending skincare products). The faster your skin cells turn over and shed from your body, the faster the sunless tan fades. The tan affects only the top layer of the skin and will begin to fade after 6 to 7 days as the skin naturally begins to shed. To get the longest life from a spray tan, it is crucial to exfoliate prior to the spray tan application and to moisturize daily after the application.
Will I turn orange?
No. Our cosmetic bronzer is perfectly blended to give you that “just off the beach” look that exactly matches your resulting spray tan. We tailor our solutions to match your skin type, undertones and desired darkness level to ensure you're getting the best solution every time.
Do I need to wear sunscreen?
Absolutely! A spray tan does not protect the skin from UV rays from the sun.
Will the spray tan come off on my clothes?
We recommend that you wear loose-fitting, darker clothes after your spray session to minimize the chance of the bronzer transferring to clothing. When using a spray solution with bronzer, some of the bronze color may rub off on clothing or bed sheets. However, this is very rare and will wash out easily, as it is a water-based solution. Vogue Magazine Australia even nicknamed our solution as “The Bedsheet Saver.”
